When the Portuguese press reported that Sporting would be sending Yannick Bolasie back to Everton so they wouldn’t have to afford his salary until the end of the season, eyebrows were raised.
Since there’s a loan contract running until the end of June, it was strange to see the Toffees being completely fine with it, especially with all struggles due to the Coronavirus crisis.
The English media were first to say those reports couldn’t be true, and now it’s time for Portuguese outlets to confirm that the Lions will keep paying for the striker’s salary.
Newspaper Record brings today a few quotes from Bolasie’s agent, Jwtiar Khalid Rahman, who didn’t want to get into details, but had a clear message about the situation.
Record points out that Sporting currently pay half of Bolasie’s wages, spending an amount of €160k every month.
The agent has also confirmed that Bolasie is ‘in England with his family’, so he didn’t return to training with his Sporting teammates.
Regarding the player’s future, he said: “We’ve received good offers. Time will bring us better ones”.
Bolasie’s contract with Everton runs until 2021.
