On October 25th, El Universal said Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Club América’s Sebastián Cáceres in the winter market.
Last month, journalist Fernando Esquivel stated the Mexican club rejected Spurs’ £3m bid for the defender.
Fast forward to December and Tuttosport mention Tottenham when discussing Torino’s interest in the 24-year-old.
The Serie A side have to think of strengthening their defence mainly because Perr Schuurs is on the sidelines with a serious knee injury and both Ricardo Rodríguez and Koffi Djidji have deals expiring in 2024.
Torino technical director Davide Vagnati is working behind the scenes and has set his eyes on the Uruguay international. The report says his agent has held talks with the Italian club, who value him around €7m including bonuses.
Apart from Torino, it’s claimed the 24-year-old’s representative has ‘open discussions’ with Tottenham, Napoli and Sevilla. That’s all the outlet has to say about Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The South American has a year left on his contract and has no plans to renew since he has set his sights on moving to Europe.
Club América are also open to his exit as Tuttosport state they ‘consider selling him’ in January for a fee ‘not too far’ from €10m.
Tottenham have the financial capacity to comfortably meet Club América’s demand and whether they will take this step needs to be seen.
