Marko Arnautovic turned down the move to Manchester United this summer, rather than the club ending the possible transfer.
That’s according to his agent, Tiziano Pasquali, who has revealed details on the potential summer transfer this week.
Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Arnautovic late in the summer transfer window, with Erik ten Hag determined to add a forward to his squad.
That came amid constant rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move away from Old Trafford at the time.
The Portuguese superstar never ended up leaving and Arnautovic did not end up joining, with extreme fan backlash to the idea of a move seemingly putting an end to Manchester United’s interest.
His agent, though, has insisted that was not the case and it was in fact his client who put an end to the potential return to England and decided to stay with current club Bologna instead.
“Yes, Juventus and Manchester United had come forward,” he told Gianluca di Marzio when asked about the transfer rumours.
“From the English we had received a written proposal, and the negotiations had continued even after some contrary opinions from their fans.
“But in the end, it was Marko who chose not to drag it out too long and to stay at Bologna. How can you think that he is now in a bad way?”
