Last week, reports from the Brazilian media said a couple of clubs were interested in signing Facundo Pellistri on loan from Manchester United.

It always seemed unlikely the Red Devils would send a promising youngster back to South America, and that’s now confirmed by journalist Jorge Nicola.

On Youtube, he reports that both Botafogo and Flamengo were interested in Pellistri, and the player’s representative went to England to speak to Manchester United about that pursuit.

It’s said the agent had at least two meetings with the Red Devils, and the answer ‘was not positive’, as Erik ten Hag has been liking what he’s seen from the youngster.

Pellitri’s main reason to seek a move away from Manchester United had been the lack of playing time at the club. However, with his debut against Charlton and these recent signs from the manager, there’s no big reason for him to force a departure now.

The loans to Botafogo and Flamengo are therefore ‘ruled out’, with the clubs set to look for other options in the market, while Pellistri continues working to convince Erik ten Hag.
