Wolverhampton Wanderers’ hopes of signing striker Yuri Alberto may be aided by the fact Corinthians have an outstanding debt with his agent André Cury.

That’s according to Bolavip, who report that the club’s financial situation and the debt owed to André Cury could help Wolves’ hopes of securing the striker.

They explain that the Brazilian club face a dilemma with Alberto, who is on the radar of several European clubs this summer. He dreams of playing in England and that could become a reality.

No formal offers have arrived for him as yet but any offer close to €35m would be deemed ‘irresistible’ given the club have debts of R$2.5bn.

Wolves are interested thanks to Vitor Pereira, who worked with the striker in 2022 and sees him as an ideal replacement for Matheus Cunha. The big problem for Corinthians is that they only own 50% of the player’s rights, reducing their bargaining power and revenue from a sale too.

Another factor working against them is a debt owed to Cury, with the agent claiming he is owed R$27m. He says an offer of R$186m would solve the situation but Corinthians deny the existence of any such offer. They want to see his €82m release clause met instead.

The Corinthians board are preparing for the worst, knowing that they will be forced to accept a significant offer for him if it arrives. The belief is that if Wolves or another European club present an offer close to €35m, they will get their man.
