Barcelona are regularly pushed forward as a suitor to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rúben Neves.
The Portugal international further fuelled the rumours last month by flirting with the La Liga side over a potential move.
Xavi Hernández wants a new midfielder and the Wolves player is again mentioned as a target for the Catalan club.
According to Sport, the Blaugrana could look to bring in a substitute for Sergio Busquets immediately. This is where Neves could be one of the options.
It’s claimed Jorge Mendes, Neves’ agent, repeatedly offers his client to the Spanish club. It would cost Xavi’s side around €30-40m to take the 25-year-old away from Molineux.
In the event Barca invest this on the former Porto man, Sport state they may not be left with enough funds to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, likely next summer.
Over at Marca, they name Neves and Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi as midfield targets for the Camp Nou side. The latter has a €60m release clause, which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him.
There are other players that are of interest to Barca and this includes the Wolves man. Even though he is not a pivot, there is a possibility for him to end up at the Camp Nou.
It’s said that Mendes, who has a good relationship with Barca president Joan Laporta, ‘constantly offers’ Neves to Xavi’s side.
The Wolves midfielder could move to Spain in the winter market on a loan deal with a purchase option for next summer.
Marca explain this formula is ‘more acceptable’ for Barca for January, taking into account the ‘economic situation that the club is going through at the moment’.
