Having failed to completely convince Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espírito Santo in the first six months, Wolves allowed Patrick Cutrone to join Fiorentina on an 18-month loan deal at the start of this year.

As part of the agreement between the two sides, there was a mandatory purchase option for the Italian club to make the striker’s transfer permanent after the end of this season.

Giovanni Branchini, the agent of the 22-year-old has now revealed the mandatory clause has been removed.

“More than one reference has been made to an agreement on the Cutrone’s contract, so I wanted to remove it,” the representative told TMW Radio.

“I am referring to the redemption obligation based on a certain number of games played. Today the loan is dry and free of a redemption condition already established which, I repeat, could be renegotiated.”

When quizzed about the conditions to make the Wolves player’s loan deal permanent, the agent explained his client is not happy at Fiorentina.

Branchini also hinted Cutrone has struggled for minutes because the Serie A side feared making his loan deal permanent, if he had made met the criteria of the number of games played.

“The loan had a value of 3 million, while the redemption of 16 million was spread over two years,” Branchini explained.

“A pre-Covid contract absolutely pleasing to all parties, in fact it has never been a real problem and this is confirmed by the fact that today there is no longer this clause of the redemption obligation.

“Fiorentina told me that the manager never had any indications in this regard from the club, but lately many doubts have arisen, the numbers confirm it: Cutrone in fact played an average of 16 minutes per game. It seems strange to me that in a department where it is so hard to score there can be no space.

“We arrived in Florence very happy, then we know that football is a team sport. I am only sorry that Patrick could not have the same opportunities as others to show his qualities and in this way, it is very difficult to express them.

“I’m sorry because I consider Fiorentina a well-assembled team. It makes me laugh that the possible La Viola salvation is now associated with the possible arrival of a player (Eg; Piatek) who yesterday scored only his seventh goal in Germany, including two from penalties. This thing makes me laugh.”

The Serie A side took the striker when Giuseppe Iachini was in charge of the club and after having struggled in the league this season, the manager was sacked and replaced by Cesare Prandelli on December 2nd.

Prandelli has opened the door for the Wolves owned striker to leave Fiorentina in January, if he’s unhappy with his situation.

“Cutrone? You can’t blame him for anything in training because he’s a very generous guy. My choice was purely technical, because I preferred to focus on a striker with other characteristics,” Prandelli said.

“He must be patient and wait for his chance, if he thinks too much of himself it becomes more complicated. If one is not happy to stay at Fiorentina, for me, he can leave.”

Two days ago, reports in the Italian media explained Bologna are interested in Cutrone.

With opportunities hard to come by at Fiorentina, the frontman could move to Bologna, if he manages to get an approval from Wolves for a transfer in January.
