Feyenoord midfielder Antoni Milambo is justified seeking a move to Brentford, as they are “a great club to join”.
That’s according to journalist Sjoerd Mossou, via Feyenoord Pings, who can understand the midfielder pushing for the move despite the criticism coming from the Netherlands.
Brentford have been chasing the 20-year-old midfielder for nearly two months, having initially met him in London and agreed personal terms.
A transfer from Feyenoord has been going backwards and forwards since, although the latest reports from the Netherlands have indicated there is confidence from all parties that a deal will be done at some point.
Questions have been raised by fans and journalists alike, though, particularly amid reports that Milambo is pushing for the move to Brentford because he believes he has achieved everything that he can with Feyenoord.
That in itself has been described as a ludicrous thing to suggest given he has just 60 appearances for them to date after making his debut under Arne Slot in April 2023.
Mossou, though, can see where the youngster is coming from, believing that Brentford are an ideal team to sign for given the structure they have in place.
“A lot needs to happen at Brentford, because they are losing their captain, top scorer and trainer,” he said on the AD Voetbalpodcast.
“I understand Milambo’s move in itself, everyone wants to play in the Premier League and Brentford is a great club to join.
“Brentford is a club that works according to a certain philosophy, a stable club. Despite the fact that the coach is leaving now, it is a well-run organisation. Just like Brighton, those are clubs where you can develop well and really have a plan for players.”
