It seems there’s now one more reason why Sporting are planning to sign Islam Slimani back from Leicester City in the summer.
The rumours of an attempt have been around for a couple of months now, and today, Correio da Manhã claims that the 29-year-old could arrive as a replacement for Bas Dost.
Since the attacks at Alcochete earlier this month, the Dutch striker seems to have been the most affected player, especially because he’s the one who suffered head injuries in the incident.
Recent reports have been claiming that Dost now wants to leave, mostly for having a personal problem with president Bruno de Carvalho, who’s not stepping down.
That’s why according to Correio da Manhã, Sporting would go strongly after Islam Slimani, who left the club for Leicester City in 2016.
As you can see in the image attached, the newspaper doesn’t bring many details on the chase, despite pointing out there’s now a special reason for the Algerian international to return to the Lions.
As reported by newspaper A Bola earlier this month, Sporting’s intention would be to find a loan deal with Leicester City. But maybe with Bas Dost’s sale, they could have enough money for a permanent deal.
