It seems that Sporting continue to be interested in bringing Islam Slimani back to the club.

After some reports in the past few months, A Bola feeds the story today, claiming that the Lions are interested in signing the Leicester City striker on a loan deal.

Sporting would have no conditions to get a permanent transfer now, especially because the failure to get a Champions League spot has made a big difference to their budget.

That’s why the intention is to sign Slimani on a one-year loan, with maybe an option to buy him at the end of the spell.

A Bola claims that Slimani is unlikely to stay at Leicester City next season as he’s not part of Claude Puel’s plans for the squad.

As the striker scored over 50 goals for Sporting in his three seasons there, and left the club in tears when sold to Leicester City in 2016, there’s some belief he would be happy to return to his old club.

But considering how bad things have been at Alvalade recently, Slimani and Leicester may well prefer other options.
