It seems that Pep Guardiola’s contract renewal with Manchester City is getting close to a happy ending for all parties involved.

As reported by Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday, the manager’s representative Josep Maria Orobitg is flying to Manchester tomorrow to start handling the negotiations.

Even though the manager’s current deal runs until 2019, Manchester City’s great results this season have convinced the club to offer him an extension before the summer.

But although Guardiola’s camp have been showing willing, everything is still in the early stages.

After the manager’s intentions are more clear, then Orobitg will meet with the officials he’s very familar with, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, to negotiate the club’s terms.

Mundo Deportivo still doesn’t know what Manchester City’s offer will be, and that’s why they take claims from the Daily Mail to say the club will give Guardiola a contract to run until 2022 and a salary of €22m per season.

Previous reports from Spain consistently stated Guardiola wouldn’t renew until he’d won a trophy with Manchester City, and that hurdle has now been jumped.
