Manchester United have been dragged into the uncertainty surrounding Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s future.
Borussia Dortmund have got themselves in a familiar and unhelpful situation, with Mkhitaryan only having a year left on his current deal.
Should nothing change then Mkhitaryan will be able to start talking to clubs about a free transfer not long after Christmas, and Dortmund will again see a top player leave the cub for absolutely nothing.
When Robert Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich for free, it was stated repeatedly that Dortmund wouldn’t let the same thing happen again, and therefore they have a choice to make over Mkhitaryan.
Feeling he’s being unreasonable with some of his demands, Dortmund haven’t managed to reach a deal yet with Mkhitaryan and his agent Mino Raiola.
German newspaper Bild say a decision will made on the player this week, and that could lead to a summer sale.
Bild say the ‘fakt’ is that there’s serious interest from England. Arsenal and Chelsea are mentioned once again, and it’s also stated Manchester United are ‘willing to pay’ around €30m, which works out to be £24m.
Whilst it would be no surprise if there was English interest in Mkhitaryan, a lot of the reports recently have felt like they are based upon assumptions… who wouldn’t be interested?
Given the difficulty Dortmund currently have with Mkhitaryan, it shouldn’t be too hard to push a move through… as long as the player wants it.
