In news that will leave nobody shocked, Fernando Llorente is closing in on a transfer to Chelsea.

The Swansea City striker is edging towards a Stamford Bridge switch for around €15m, reports Spanish newspaper AS, in a move hanging over from previous transfer attempts.

Swansea City want to bring in a replacement before fully agreeing to let Llorente leave the club, and that man is rumoured to be Wilfried Bony.

Manchester City are happy to let Bony leave, and it’s perhaps a surprise that he’s still at the Premier League club with just a day of the window left.

In May Llorente spoke to Marca about Chelsea’s efforts to sign him during the winter window. Swansea refused a deal, and the striker was happy to open up on the situation, explaining: “At that time we were in a delicate situation. I was the one who was making the goals at Swansea and they would not let me leave.”

Llorente would be a back-up striker for Antonio Conte at Chelsea, just as he was at Juventus and a move would show the striker is willing to give up a leading role to play at a bigger club.
