Back in July, Tottenham Hotspur were linked to Ljubomir Fejsa from Benfica. The rumour really came out of nothing, probably based on Spurs’ other rumours regarding players from the Portuguese league.

That report was made by Record, who said the midfielder would be an option as the London club failed to land Adrien Silva from Sporting CP.

A week later, we saw what it was all about. The same newspaper revealed that Fejsa was negotiating a new contract with Benfica, and would get a pay raise in this new deal.

Two weeks passed, and then it was time for West Ham to be linked to the Greek international. Newspaper Correio da Manhã pointed him out as an alternative for William Carvalho, who the London side is struggling to get a deal for.

So that’s Tottenham and West Ham both keen, both out of nowhere.

It wasn’t hard to put 2 + 2 together. Link with Premier League clubs is a good reason for a pay rise. Especially in Portugal where they like to give them big deals with huge release clauses.

That’s what we pointed out originally, and it seems we were right. Because today, Record confirms that Fejsa has reached a deal with Benfica and is set to renew his contract.

We’re shocked. What a surprise.

Maybe Tottenham and West Ham can get themselves agent commission on this one.
