In October, Bologna’s Sam Beukema flirted with Liverpool by stating that he would be happy to join the Merseyside club one day.
The centre-back said he dreams of making a move to the Premier League, where West Ham United are his favourite club, but would be open to joining the Reds.
Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by 1000 Cuori Rossoblu, now state Liverpool have made an attempt to sign Beukema in the winter market.
In the summer of 2023, the Dutchman arrived at the Serie A side from AZ Alkmaar, two years after joining the latter from Go Ahead Eagles. Arne Slot knows him from their time in the Eredivisie and the report claims he tried to sign the defender for Feyenoord.
The manager has returned for his compatriot and seems to be driving Liverpool’s transfer pursuit. Il Resto del Carlino explain the English club have made an offer to sign Beukema in January.
There’s no mention of the details of their proposal and it may not matter because Bologna have rejected it.
The two clubs faced each other in the Champions League earlier this season and Slot had praised his compatriot. Therefore, Liverpool could return for Beukema in the summer.
The Dutch defender made 23 appearances for the Serie A side this season.
