Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Chiquinho joined RCD Mallorca on a loan deal in the summer window
On December 18th, we covered claims from Spain which stated the La Liga side could cut short his loan stay in January.
Four days ago, Última Hora stated Mallorca were initially excited over the Wolves man’s arrival but have changed their plans due to his struggles.
Pablo Ortells, the Spanish club’s sporting director, has been speaking to the media over several topics and Comuniate have relayed his comments.
The official claims Mallorca centre-back Siebe Van der Heyden hasn’t asked to leave the club in the winter market.
Ortells was then asked about the Wolves owned player, and he said: “Neither [he hasn’t asked to leave]. Normally in these markets, those who have less minutes are the ones who are more restless and more likely to look for a way out.”
The director has further hinted the 24-year-old could leave Mallorca and return to Wolves in the winter market.
When asked if there’s money to invest on new signings next month, Ortells explained: “In these windows it is difficult to acquire a player, I don’t think we are in a position to make a purchase.”
“They are markets where our players who don’t have many minutes may look to leave and in the other clubs the same thing can probably happen. Situations of a transfer in this window are more common.”
Chiquinho played two games for Wolves before joining the Spanish club. This means he can’t go out on loan to another club in January if Mallorca were to be terminate his loan deal.
Therefore, Wolves manager Vítor Pereira, for his part, won’t have a say on this case.
