Leeds United are in the picture to sign FC Nordsjælland’s Daniel Svensson and could even have an advantage over Liverpool and Juventus.
This was initially reported by Fotboll Direkt last weekend, and they stated the Whites are following the 22-year-old. He made 18 appearances for the Danish club this season and made his debut for Sweden last month.
A fresh report from Fotboll Direkt points out Leeds’ interest in the left-back and also relay claims made elsewhere about Liverpool and Juventus.
A move to Liverpool or the Turin club will see Svensson have an opportunity to play in the Champions League. Leeds, on the other hand, are in the second division in England.
Despite this, he would be open to joining Leeds over the two Champions League sides and this is according to Tipsbladet journalist Lars Gram-Hanssen. He’s been discussing the Swede to Fotboll Direkt and explained why Svensson would favour joining Daniel Farke’s side.
“I think Daniel Svensson would be interested in a move to Leeds. They are number one in the Championship, and it could be a chance to go to a club where he would have a good chance to be a starter from the start,” he said.
Leeds are currently second in the table, three points behind leaders Sheffield United, with a game in hand.
Earlier this year, Svensson renewed his deal until 2027, and Gram-Hanssen is of the belief he’s likely to change clubs next summer. The Swede can also be used in the midfield and the journalist also talked about his best position.
“I think it’s perhaps generally easier to go to a new club in the summer transfer window,” Gram-Hanssen explained.
“Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s ideal for him to play at left-back as he has done this autumn. Last season he performed really, really well as a central midfielder.”
