At the beginning of the week the German slant on Ruud van Nistelrooy potentially moving to HSV Hamburg was that it would be an emotional temptation for the Dutchman given he played for the club.
That then turned to claims that HSV had a number of options and weren’t going to rush into anything. Bild, Germany’s best selling newspaper, now raises the flag somewhat and admits that’s Leicester City are a ‘different dimension’ in terms of their pull right now.
Currently 16th in the Premier League, Leicester City have a pretty good chance of staying up this season and they can of course offer wages, and a staying up bonus, suitable to the top flight of English football.
Meanwhile, HSV are eighth in 2.Bundesliga and whilst they’re only four points from Paderborn in first position the battle for promotion is going to be fierce.
Bild report HSV supporters would dream of welcoming Ruud van Nistelrooy back to the club as manager. The club’s leaders considered him last year and have been in touch since.
That contact kicked off again in recent weeks, but Bild make it clear nothing concrete has come from it. HSV are said to be well aware that, ‘sportingly and financially’, Leicester City are simply a ‘different dimension’ to the German club right now.
