Everton have expressed an interest in signing Tariq Lamptey on a free transfer at the end of the season if his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion expires as expected.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who report that they have learned Lamptey has expressed a desire to leave Brighton and Everton have already expressed an interest in signing him.
Lamptey is out of contract at the end of the season and would like to leave Brighton, where he is currently out of the picture following an injury hit few years.
He’d prefer to stay in the Premier League if he can, despite the likes of Juventus also showing an interest in him.
Brighton and manager Fabian Hürzeler would be open to letting him leave in the January transfer window to avoid a free transfer. They’re yet to put a price on the 24-year-old but he has been valued at €12m by Transfermarkt.
Lamptey’s entourage want to see him remain in the Premier League too and would be in favour of a club who will allow him to ‘improve his statistics’ in the division.
That could potentially give Everton their shot, especially as they have a need for a new, long-term solution at right-back. That’s seemingly led to them already expressing an interest in Lamptey, who doesn’t appear to be completely against the idea either.
