Manchester United interest in Youssouf Fofana is spreading out across the Italian media, and seemingly causing AC Milan some worry.
The Rossoneri have been trying to sign the midfielder for a while but want to do so for less than €20m, and this doesn’t please AS Monaco.
West Ham United had also been linked but there was insistence the midfielder wasn’t interested in joining the Hammers.
Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport made it clear that the Red Devils are a whole new level of competition for Milan when compared to West Ham.
TMW also give their take on it.
In a Wednesday editorial, it’s said Manchester United are trying to snatch the signing from Milan. A rather stronger phrase is used to explain that, but we’ll keep it polite and say crush.
There’s insistence Fofana has given his word to Milan and doesn’t want to go back on it, although if Monaco agreed a deal with Manchester United it’s difficult to see the 25-year-old saying no.
Perhaps the bigger question here is whether the interest from Erik ten Hag’s side is real or if it’s been manufactured to put pressure on Milan to pay more.
There’s nothing strong in France on these claims today.
