Manchester City have ‘made an offer’ to RB Leipzig for midfielder Dani Olmo as the race for his signature finally appears to be underway.
That’s according to journalist Santi Aouna, who says Manchester City have made an offer while Barcelona are now pushing to sign the Spain star.
Olmo appeared set to be one of the prime movers in this transfer window after starring for Spain in their success at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Several big sides in Europe were thought to be keen on him thanks to the existence of a release clause in his contract with RB Leipzig which was set at a figure some were decreeing as almost a bargain.
Manchester City have been continually linked, particularly as Kevin de Bruyne has been named as a prime target for Saudi Arabia and even hinted publically that he’d be open to the move.
Neither they nor other suitors have made moves, though, at least until now, with Aouna reporting Barcelona and Manchester City are now in direct battle.
He reports ‘excitement’ around Olmo as Manchester City have now made an offer for the player while Barcelona are also pushing.
According to his information the Catalans are out in front at present as the player wants the move to the Nou Camp and has given them his preference. His agent has an appointment with Barcelona this weekend to discuss the potential deal.
The positive for Manchester City is that Barcelona can’t move until they sell players and release funds, giving them their window, presuming that money isn’t an issue at the Etihad.
