Negotiations between Bayern Munich and Manchester United for Mathijs de Ligt are now fully underway and expected to finalise next week.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who adds to the growing chorus of confidence that Manchester United will be signing De Ligt this summer.
Reports throughout today have indicated that Manchester United have taken a step closer to signing the Dutchman, who has reportedly now committed 100% to a move to Old Trafford and reunion with Erik ten Hag.
That was followed up by a claim that talks between the two sides were now on and an agreement could be done sooner rather than later.
Falk continues along that line, stating that Bayern and Manchester United have started negotiations for the defender and an agreement ‘is expected as early as next week’.
That’s because the clubs are no longer far apart in their ideas on the transfer, with Bayern still demanding €50m plus add-ons.
Whether they’ve been flexible on that point or Manchester United have now upped their offer isn’t made clear, but there’s a growing confidence this transfer can now be finalised, particularly now De Ligt and the Netherlands are out of Euro 2024.
