Lens have made an inquiry to Wolverhampton Wanderers for Boubacar Traoré as they look to strengthen their midfield this summer.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the French side have ‘studied the feasibility’ of signing the Wolves man.
The newspaper explains that while there is vagueness at Lens at this moment in time, particularly over the budget that they have to work with for incoming players, the club are still working on potential signings.
The arrival of one midfielder at least would be welcomed and that’s led them to inquire about the feasibility of signing Traoré from Wolves.
The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Wolves from FC Metz in an initial loan deal in September 2022 and was signed on a permanent basis for €11m in July last year.
He’s made 38 appearances for Gary O’Neil’s side since and was a regular, albeit as a substitute, for them last season.
Lens believe that a transfer would be difficult to get over the line, or indeed, ‘difficult to envisage’, but there is some hope that a loan deal could be doable.
Wolves’ leadership are yet to comment on the situation or make it clear whether they want the midfielder to stay at this moment in time.
German side Borussia Mönchengladbach are also keeping an eye on the situation as they expect to lose Manu Koné and will need a replacement if they do, although it seems they’ve not yet stepped forward and opened initial talks as Lens have.
