Arsenal defender William Saliba had a fitness issue at France’s training session today.
As reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the centre-back has ‘pain in his right ankle’ following the national team’s debut at Euro 2024.
It’s claimed, however, that the injury is ‘not serious’, so it would be no surprise to see Saliba available for the next game.
Besides the Arsenal defender, Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano and AC Milan’s Theo Hernández also stayed out of the session due to minor problems.
Saliba was a starter and played the full 90 minutes in France’s Euro 2024 debut against Austria on Wednesday.
The centre-back now has a couple of days to recover, ahead of their big match against the Netherlands on Friday, and that could be a decisive game to see who stays top of Group D. France then close the first stage with a match against Poland on Tuesday.
Saliba had a very healthy season for Arsenal, taking part in all 38 Premier League games, and surely hopes that an injury doesn’t stop him from representing his country now.
