Max Allegri’s sacking at Juventus has opened the door for a new deal with Southampton for midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say that a new deal is possible with Southampton for the on-loan midfielder.
They explain that while Alcaraz was little used by Allegri, he remains highly regarded by Juventus director of football Cristiano Giuntoli and thus could be a part of his plans moving forwards.
There is also a belief that he would be a player who could flourish under Thiago Motta, who is the leading man to replace Allegri at this moment in time.
Alcaraz’s loan deal from Southampton in January had been one of the initial rifts between Giuntoli and Allegri, with the player’s lack of appearances seen as something of a ‘counter-revenge’ by the now sacked Italian.
Giuntoli has no intention of signing Alcaraz via the €49.5m clause but instead via another loan deal. A deal would need to be agreed with Southampton, though, who are seen as a strong club when it comes to negotiations.
A move could please Motta, as he ‘has everything’ that the potential new Juventus manager would want in a player.
It’ll all depend on Southampton, but the fact Allegri has now gone is leading to suggestions Juventus will properly push to keep hold of the midfielder.
