Liverpool have joined Manchester United and other clubs in the race to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the summer window.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who state the striker wants to leave the Serie A side after this season.
When discussing options, Liverpool are added to the list that already includes Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Nigeria international has a €130m clause and it’s €20m less than what was offered by PSG last summer, which was rejected by Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis.
It’s claimed the Ligue 1 side are currently in pole position and are ready to offer €90m for the former Lille man, which is €40m less than the figure mentioned in the clause. There’s another factor that could make it difficult for PSG to sign the 25-year-old.
Liverpool have won two of their last seven games, during which time they were knocked out of the FA Cup and Europa League.
The report claims their recent form has seen some of their supporters turn against Darwin Nunez. At Anfield, they feel someone like Osimhen could be the right fit to replace the Uruguayan.
Manchester United and Chelsea remain at the window for the Napoli star but can’t offer Champions League football. That won’t be the case with Liverpool, who can beat the Red Devils and the Blues to help Osimhen fulfil his Premier League dream.
