Tottenham striker Alejo Veliz won’t remember his loan spell at Sevilla ‘with special pleasure’, having found himself on the bench at the Spanish club since arriving in January.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the player today again and the bizarre situation he’s found himself under Quique Sanchez Flores.
They explain that Veliz is one of several January signings at the club who doesn’t play frequently and is often left out of the squad list entirely.
This has created something of a problem at the club, where director of football Victor Orta has questioned why the manager is not using the players he has been given and indeed asked for.
With Rafa Mir and Mariano out injured he had arrived at the club ‘full of enthusiasm’ and confident of getting plenty of minutes but instead his move to the club will ‘not be remembered with special pleasure’ by him.
He is not playing, and the situation does not appear likely to get much better in the last nine games of the season either.
Tottenham have already questioned the situation and are frustrated about the loan deal, while it seems Orta is also wondering what’s going on given Flores asked for a forward, was given it in Veliz and yet has refused to use him.
All in all, the loan deal has been a complete disaster and the youngster will be returning to Tottenham in the summer with a sense the last few months have been wasted.
