While Manchester United are likely planning a rather busy summer under INEOS’ first transfer window at the helm of football operations, one player is unlikely to be heading to Old Trafford.
At least, that’s what Fussball.News are reporting on Monday, as they look at the reported interest from the Red Devils in Johan Bakayoko.
The Belgian winger has impressed greatly over the past two years at PSV Eindhoven, which is why he has ended up on Manchester United’s radar, where he remains for the time being.
The German outlet explain that while he is still on the club’s ‘shortlist’, it ‘does not look as if the player will be pursued any further’.
The reason for that is the uncertainty that currently surrounds Manchester United, with a lot of talk about the future of Erik ten Hag, and the positions the club will prioritise on the transfer market.
As things stand, Bakayoko would cost around €50m, which isn’t a huge amount compared to what the club paid for Antony, especially when the 20-year-old has had a hand in 21 goals for his club this season, scoring eight times and providing 13 assists.
Those statistics are why Manchester United will bellowing at him, but for now, it seems the Premier League side are ‘following other avenues’.
