Barcelona are keeping an eye on the situation around Las Palmas defender Mika Mármol, with the belief Manchester City may sign him for Girona.
Mundo Deportivo cover the player today, explaining that he is having a ‘magnificent season’ with Las Palmas and thus attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer.
Clubs in La Liga and abroad are preparing offers for when the market opens, and Barcelona are keeping an eye on the matter as they could be set to benefit.
They still hold 50% of the rights on the defender after letting him join FC Andorra in August 2022, with the player having been developed in La Masia in the early parts of his career.
He would cost €30m, although Las Palmas would only get around €10m of that given Barcelona would be taking a large chunk of the money.
That’s a big figure for Girona either way and Barcelona actually believe that Manchester City will ‘act as a bridge’ in the operation and indeed take charge of it. Information suggesting such has ‘already appeared in Madrid’ according to the newspaper.
The suggestion seems to be that Manchester City would buy Mármol and immediately send him to Girona, one of the clubs in the expansive City Group network.
Barcelona themselves are not interested as they’re well covered in the defensive area and would prefer to just make money on him given their desperate need for income to try and balance the books.
That paves the way for Manchester City and Girona to get their man in yet another operation between the two clubs given Savio’s apparent impending arrival at the Etihad.
