Enjoying a great first half of the season at Fenerbahçe, Sebastian Szymanski didn’t waste anytime in catching the attention of the likes of Tottenham.
Spurs were linked with a €35m transfer for the Poland international during the January transfer window, and although no move was made by the Premier League side, the interest continued into February.
As we approach March, heads are starting to turn towards the summer, and Sabah in Turkey are reporting that Fenerbahçe aren’t worried about the interest from Tottenham and others in their star, and in fact welcome it.
It’s explained they initially set the bar at €20m for a transfer, but they ‘increased this figure’ up to €25m because of the daily news surrounding the player.
In fact, they ‘plan to break a new record’ with his sale, clearly ready to leverage the fact he has 12 goals and 14 assists in 40 appearances this season.
These figures seem to be considerably lower than the €35m announced in January, likely because there will be less reluctance to let him go as it won’t be midway through the campaign and he has struggled to contribute in any way in the past seven games.
To date, their record sale have been the €21m departures of Elvir Baljic to Real Madrid and Vedat Muriqi to Lazio.
