Eintracht Frankfurt are moving quickly to sign up youngster Can Uzun this summer to keep him away from Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle.
That’s according to Fussball.News, who report that the striker’s current deal includes a €10m release clause for foreign clubs that will activate in the summer.
Uzun is one of the rising stars of German football, having managed 11 goals and one assist in 19 games for FC Nuremberg in the 2. Bundesliga this season.
That’s led to increasing interest in his signature, with a host of Bundesliga sides believed to be keen on him and Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle all monitoring him as well.
A report earlier this month indicated Brighton had been the first to show an interest in the youngster, while a report before that had named Fulham and Newcastle as interested parties too.
Another of his suitors, Eintracht Frankfurt, are aware of that and Fussball News report that they’re looking to get ahead of the Premier League trio and ensure they win the race.
They explain that Frankfurt want to wrap up Uzun ‘as quickly as possible’ as the youngster has two release clauses set to activate in his deal in the summer, one worth €9m for German sides and €10m for foreign sides.
That makes him an easy signing to get done from June 1st and so Eintracht want a deal done before then and are even willing to dig a little deeper into their pockets to do so.
That’s because they believe there is a ‘great risk’ that another club, particularly one of the Premier League trio, could get in the way of their plans.
They want to stop that happening and are moving now, hoping to stop Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle from picking up a bargain signing this summer.
