Austrian coach Oliver Glasner is ‘probably already in London’, waiting to be named as Roy Hodgson’s successor at Crystal Palace.
That’s according to journalist Peter Linden, who believes Glasner will have done his homework on the Eagles before potentially taking charge.
Glasner has been heavily linked with a move to Selhurst Park this week, with Crystal Palace seemingly taking the decision to part ways with Roy Hodgson and bring him in.
An announcement was expected yesterday but Hodgson was taken ill during a morning training session and taken to hospital, delaying matters as the focus is now on his recovery.
Either way, Glasner appears to be the favourite to replace him, and Linden believes he is ‘probably already in London’ ahead of making the move.
He says that, knowing Glasner well, the likelihood is that he has ‘researched the club in detail’, analysed games and certainly watched at least one of them live. Thus ‘knows what to expect’ from the job.
Reports from Austria that he is bringing Emanuel Pogatetz with him as his assistant back that up given his experience playing in England with Middlesbrough and West Ham.
Indeed, Linden believes that Austria Vienna sporting director Jürgen Werner probably has a hand in the matter, having worked as a consultant for Pogatetz during his career and even brought Glasner to LASK as a coach.
All that remains is for Glasner to be confirmed by Crystal Palace, which is very much on the backburner while Hodgson recovers.
