Napoli now regret not having signed Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to a report from Italy.
That’s said by Area Napoli, who comes up to show the club still haven’t been able to sign an adequate replacement for Kim Min-jae, who left for Bayern Munich last summer.
The outlet reveals that back in March 2023, Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli advised their president Aurelio De Laurentiis about who should arrive for the South Korean’s place. That was Kilman, for whom he should ‘secure’ a deal.
The Serie A side, however, couldn’t find an agreement with Wolves for ‘various reasons’, and the club ended up not making a big signing to replace Kim.
Area Napoli writes that Kilman ‘would certainly have been very useful’ for the Italian club, as even their manager at the time Rudi Garcia requested a ‘high level’ central defender.
It remains to be seen whether the Serie A side would still be interested in signing Kilman next summer.
It’s worth recalling that last August, he signed a contract extension with Wolves, and is now committed to the club until 2028, valued by Transfermarkt at €35m.
