€35m or no deal – West Ham offers are less than half what club wants, summer looking likelier

West Ham United’s interest in Inter Milan youngster Valentino Carboni doesn’t get very positive updates from the Italian media today.

As outlet Inter Live writes about the 18-year-old’s future, they make it clear the Nerazzurri won’t just let him go for any bids.

The story recalls that West Ham are one of the clubs who’ve been trying to get him, as they ‘tested waters’ by putting €10m and €15m on the table.

The problem is that Inter Milan set a much higher price for his departure. They’re only expected to accept a €35m deal, and are prepared to reject all offers below that.

There’s another obstacle for a potential sale, which is the fact that Carboni is currently having a loan spell at Monza. Inter Live points out that the club’s CEO recently ruled out his departure, and that’s seen as a ‘denial’ of the recent rumours about a move to West Ham.

The whole story makes it sound like the youngster’s transfer is a subject to be treated more carefully in the summer, and it’s not by the end of the mid-season window that the Hammers or any other club will manage to get it done.
