Despite claims that Brighton were trying to sign Tottenham’s Bryan Gil, there hasn’t been a lot of movement around the winger of late.
Fiorentina tried at one point, while Lazio were the ones seemingly pushing for a January deal, but their eyes are now set on Jack Clarke, formerly of Spurs and excelling with Sunderland.
However, they haven’t given up on the Tottenham forward just yet, as Corriere dello Sport explain the Spaniard is still on their list.
They explain that while he does have clubs interested in him in the Premier League, Gil ‘can move at any moment’, because it seems Spurs want him gone, at least temporarily.
In fact, his situation at Tottenham is such that he ‘dreams’ of someone calling him in the last moments of the transfer window to try and save him from the London club.
Maurizio Sarri is said to ‘like him’, but unlike Clarke, who has 13 goals to his name in the league this season, Gil’s inability to find the back of the net, even when playing regularly out on loan, ‘puts a brake’ on his arrival in Rome.
One that could really drag until the last few hours of the transfer window, with the Tottenham player seemingly almost praying for his phone to ring at some point in the next days.
