Regardles of what’s been said in the past few days, the Italian media insists that Lecce are in talks to sign Gustaf Lagerbielke from Celtic.

Newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport today writes that the talks for the defender ‘remain in place’.

The outlet writes that Lagerbielke will ‘be released’ by Celtic this window, and Lecce will do their best to try to get him signed.

The Serie A side are now said to be evaluating the transfer formula, but still deal with the salary problem, as his wages are said to be high.

The news comes out as a bit of a turnaround in the situation, because last week, Lecce technical director Pantaleo Corvino had been claiming they wouldn’t invest in their defence in the remaining days of the transfer window.

That may also mean that the Italian club don’t plan to spend a big amount of money on the signing, so we shall see whether their offer will be good enough to convince Celtic.

Lagerbielke still has a long contract with the Hoops, running until 2028, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €2.5m.
