Napoli are making an attempt for the signing of West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals, according to the latest reports from Italy.

The claims are made by journalist Antonello Gallo, whose social media post gets covered by Area Napoli.

There, it’s said that Napoli could land Fornals on a temporary deal, although the player may have other destinations in mind.

“Market: confirmation from some foreign colleagues, Fornals could go on loan. According to some, he is on the outs with West Ham coach Moyes. The Neapolitan club would have already come forward more decisively today, the issue is that the player would like to return to Spain (Sevilla or Betis),” wrote Gallo.

Area Napoli highlights the ‘excellent technique’ Fornals has, pointing out that he can play in multiple positions in midfield.

The 27-year-old’s contract with West Ham expires at the end of the season, and with no signs of a renewal yet, it seems the Hammers could find a deal to make a couple of millions to avoid losing him for free in a deal similar to the one struck by Tottenham for Eric Dier.

That’s an advantageous situation for the interested sides as well, and we should soon get to see the offers they’ll put on the table.

Especially in Napoli’s case, as the report sounds pretty much sure that their attempt is already being made.

Fornals has 22 appearances for West Ham this season, but hardly getting any sequences as a starter.
