On Monday, we relayed news from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur are ahead of Napoli, AC Milan and Bayern Munich in the race for Genoa star Radu Drăgușin.

The Premier League side have taken further steps in their pursit of the defender. That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who state Spurs have sent an ‘official offer’ of €25m plus €5m bonuses to the Serie A side.

The Bundesliga winners are set to provide competition to Tottenham. Di Marzio adds they have held talks with the 21-year-old’s camp, but haven’t yet made a formal offer.

Sky Italia also explain that a battle is ongoing between the north London club and Bayern for the centre-back.

At the moment, Ange Postecoglou’s side are in pole position, after they tabled an offer worth €25m plus €5m in bonuses, and are ready to definitely close the deal.

It’s claimed Genoa are ‘inclined to accept’ Spurs’ proposal but will make the final decision on the Romania international on Tuesday.

That could likely be because of the Bavarian club joining the race. Sky state that if Bayern don’t make a firm effort in a short period of time, Drăgușin would ‘leave immediately for London’.

Meanwhile, Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari shares a different take on this case. He says the defender would have joined Spurs if not for Bayern’s late inclusion.

“There’s an agreement between Genoa, Drăgușin and Tottenham for the player’s transfer. It would all be over if it hadn’t been for Bayern Munich’s inclusion. The player’s entourage has given priority to the Bavarians, who have about two days to reach an agreement with Genoa and finalise the transfer to Germany,” he said.
