On December 2nd, TV Play explained that Manchester City are ready to pay a fee to sign Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan. It was also stated he’s the ‘first name’ on the Citizens’ target list to bolster their defence.
Operating mainly as a right-back and at times as a right wing-back, he’s scored three goals and registered four assists from 20 games this season.
Manchester City aren’t alone as Inter Milan are also interested in signing him. That’s according to Sky Italia, who state the Serie A side have been following the 24-year-old for a long time.
It’s said ‘there is competition from Manchester City’ to sign the Canada international, who has been in contact with the Nerazzurri for over a year.
Sky state Club Brugge demanded €17m a year ago and with Buchanan refusing to extend his deal beyond 2025, they could be forced to lower the request.
Inter are hoping to beat Pep Guardiola’s side and close the deal for around €7/8m, by taking advantage of the good relationship with the Canadian.
This claim is echoed by Gianluca Di Marzio, who adds Manchester City ‘appreciates’ the fullback.
It’s even claimed Buchanan has given priority to Inter amid interest from Guardiola’s side. This should put the San Siro club in a strong position to get ahead of Manchester City in the transfer race.
