Belgian manager Philippe Clement is taking his time over a possible move to Rangers as he wants to make sure he chooses his next job correctly.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who cover the situation around Clement today as he is increasingly linked with a move to Ibrox.
Rangers are on the hunt for their new manager after electing to sack Michael Beale following a disappointing ten months in charge at Ibrox.
A shortlist has quickly been drawn up, with Rangers seemingly intent on getting a new man in place as quickly as possible.
Clement has quickly been named among the potential candidates and HLN say the 49-year-old is ‘emphatically in the picture’ at this moment in time.
That’s because the former Monaco manager ‘wants to make the right choice’ after his time in Ligue 1 and while Rangers are a big club, the Scottish league is ‘not highly regarded’.
Their interest in Clement is ‘extensive’ but he seemingly has doubts about the move, after already making it clear that ‘sporting and family interests take precedence’ for him.
That came amid interest from Saudi Arabia, where Al-Shabab are now reportedly interested in him, with the Belgian coach turning down the chance to move to the Middle East initially.
It now seems he is weighing up the Rangers job against various factors, chief among them being whether it’s the right move for him on the pitch and off it.
