The games played by Brazil in the current international break are seen as a little special, as for the first time since 2016, they have a new manager in charge.
Fernando Diniz started his work very well, and the player who seems to be enjoying that the most is Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães.
UOL today feature a story recalling the friendship between the two, as the midfielder was just 17 when the coach gave him his professional debut at Audax.
The piece points out that Guimarães used to be told by Diniz that he’d be a ‘spectacular player’ and now, in a press conference, the Newcastle star has shared his happiness about reuniting with him at the national team.
“I think I get a lot of call-ups, but not many minutes. I want to be more active in this cycle. I’ve got good numbers in the national team, but the important thing is to make the team play. The midfielder is important, the fewer mistakes he makes the better the team play. That’s fundamental to Diniz’s style. I want to play more games in this cycle and I feel ready for the challenge.”
That can undoubtedly grow the midfielder’s confidence at Newcastle, as there are many players who switch clubs in Europe because they think they haven’t been getting enough attention from national team managers. As reported in Brazil this week, the player is actually in advanced talks with the Magpies for a new contract, and with a national manager who believes in him… all is good right now for Bruno.
