Back in July, Leeds United’s Marc Roca completed a season-long loan move to Real Betis.
Earlier this month, Real Betis sporting director Ramón Planes admitted the 26-year-old was desperate to join his side and called every day until his loan move was formalised. The La Liga side had to lower their wage bill by getting rid of some of their players in order to register the Leeds owned player.
In the last three years, Roca has been to Bayern Munich, Leeds and now the Spanish club. Speaking in quotes relayed by ElDesmarque, he opened up about the experience he went through to arrive at Real Betis.
“I spoke with Ramón, also with the coach, I knew I had to wait a few weeks. Everything went smoothly, I was able to get here and be registered for the first day, which was important.”
Operating as a defensive midfielder, the Spaniard has made four league starts for Real Betis. He’s said he’s enjoying his start to the season at the Andalusian club.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side don’t have an option or obligation to make Roca’s stay permanent and he’ll have to return to Leeds next summer.
When asked about the possibility of extending his stay at Real Betis, the Whites man has insisted he isn’t focused on his future beyond this season when
“This season, with the loan, I am very comfortable and happy, we’ll see. Let’s see how everything evolves in the coming months. These are things that have to be talked about, two clubs that have to agree, and then there’s me. I like to live day to day, I am focused on the present and eager to help the team,” Roca explained.
