Two days ago, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reported West Ham United director Tim Steidten had made a trip to Brazil to negotiate a deal for Corinthians’s Yuri Alberto.
Corinthians have refused to allow the striker leave for what the Hammers want to pay and this has forced the Hammers look at other targets.
According to iG Esporte, West Ham have now shifted their focus to Flamengo star Pedro.
The Premier League side’s interest in the 26-year-old isn’t new as AS stated earlier this month that they are one of the clubs in the picture to sign him.
It’s claimed the frontman has lost prominence under Jorge Sampaoli after being involved in an altercation with fitness coach Pablo Fernández and is now considering leaving the club.
Despite Pedro’s current situation, iG Esporte say Flamengo don’t want to part ways with their star this summer.
The South American’s contract lasts until December 2027 and the website states it includes a €60m release clause.
Pedro has scored 23 goals and registered four assists from 40 games this year.
Intriguingly, when West Ham were said to be close to Yuri Alberto, some in the Brazilian media asked why they weren’t going for Pedro instead, as he’s considered a better option.
