The Portuguese media continues to highlight Benfica’s resistance regarding Fulham’s chase for Morato.
Back at the weekend, it had been claimed that the Eagles turned down the Whites’ latest €25m bid for the defender.
Now as Correio da Manhã writes about the pursuit, they claim that Fulham are still far from convincing Benfica to negotiate.
The newspaper writes that the Eagles ‘do not agree to sell’ the player even if Marco Silva’s side put over €30m on the table.
It’s pointed out that Benfica have been turning down ‘all proposals’, even though Fulham are expected to come with a new bid.
The Lisbon side are all aware that the player is attracted by the offer, as he’d make four times more in England, besides featuring in the Premier League.
Correio da Manhã says Morato has been ‘tempted’ but shows to be ‘calm’ about the situation during this pre-season.
The defender is protected by Benfica with a €100m release clause, with a contract until 2027, so the Eagles can still resist a lot more to see how far Fulham will go.
