Newcastle United representatives arrive at hotel – Medical to happen today

Representatives from Newcastle United have arrived at Italy’s hotel in Cluj to finalise a deal for Sandro Tonali and set up his medical.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say a medical is planned for the midfielder today before the transfer is closed.

Tonali has been linked with a move to Newcastle for the last few days, with numerous reports in Italy and England making it clear they’re closing in on a deal with AC Milan for him.

They are now seemingly stepping up their efforts to get the transfer over the line, with it explained that the player’s entourage and representatives from Newcastle have arrived at Italy’s hotel in Cluj to push things forwards.

Tonali is currently there as part of Italy U21s squad for the European Championship, but Newcastle’s plan is for him to undergo a medical in Romania.

The belief is that will help to ‘speed up the process’ and lead to the AC Milan midfielder joining Newcastle sooner rather than later on a six year, €8m a year, transfer valued at €80m.
