Bayer Leverkusen’s chances of getting Granit Xhaka from Arsenal are being boosted by the fact his wife wants to return to Germany.
That’s according to Kicker, who say a transfer is being made possible by the midfielder’s wife wanting to depart London for their former home.
Xhaka has surprisingly been linked with a move back to the Bundesliga this week, with reports in Germany stating that Leverkusen are eyeing a move.
A report earlier today made it clear that was only possible because Arsenal were open to doing a deal for around €15m, a price the German side can easily afford for a player they believe would be a valuable addition to Xabi Alonso’s side.
Kicker follow that up and say that while the financials are giving Leverkusen an opportunity, the Arsenal man’s personal situation is also a factor.
According to their information that ‘plays into the hands’ of those in charge at Leverkusen, as his wife, who he met during his time with Borussia Mönchengladbach, has been wanting to return to the Rhineland for ‘a long time’.
That could see Xhaka, who has been with Arsenal since 2016, push for the move to happen and return to the Bundesliga after seven years in the Premier League.
