Bournemouth and Burnley still interested in club takeover – But owner’s demands proving difficult

Burnley and Bournemouth owners are willing to pay €15m to buy Belgian club KV Kortrijk, but owner Vincent Tan wants more.

That’s according to Krant van West-Vlaanderen, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, who say the Malaysian businessman only wants to sell for ‘big money’.

Several reports over the last week have indicated that Bournemouth and Burnley were keen on a deal for Kortrijk and adding them to a network of clubs, such as the City Group network of teams.

They, though, had faced resistance from Kortrijk’s current owner Tan, who had reportedly increased his asking price when the Premier League duo came calling.

That was followed by a claim that Burnley had decided to pull out of any potential deal, instead preferring to spend the money on improving Vincent Kompany’s squad this summer.

Krant van West-Vlaanderen refute that, however, and say that there is in fact interest from Burnley and Bournemouth in taking over Kortrijk and it is Tan who is the problem.

He is hoping for a ‘much more lucrative offer’ than the ones he has received so far, with the English duo only able, or willing, to offer €15m.

Tan would instead prefer to sell for €18m to the “rather obscure Kaminski Group” if he is to release his shares this summer.

That is something he absolutely wants to do but both the Cherries and the Clarets will need to up their bids if they are to add the Belgian club to their portfolios.
