Liverpool have become the latest Premier League side to take serious notice of Feyenoord star Orkun Kökçü.

The 22-year-old has been one of the key players for the Eredivisie side in their bid to win the title this season. Operating from the middle of the pitch, he has scored 12 goals and registered five assists from 42 games.

Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan told De Telegraaf’s podcast, Kick-off, relayed by Soccernews.nl, that Liverpool have sent their scout to watch the player live in action in recent weeks.

“I think a lot of clubs are after Orkun Kökcü. There were already a number of clubs. Leicester City, Brighton and a number of other clubs from that region. I think more and more top clubs are now looking at him,” he said.

“In recent weeks, the stands have been packed with scouts, including from the top six of the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Liverpool; everyone had scouts there.”

Earlier reports from the Dutch press already reported the aforementioned clubs, except Liverpool, had their scouts closely follow the Turkey international. The Reds have been thrown into the mix now.

Jürgen Klopp is keen to strengthen the Merseyside club’s midfield next season and Kökçü could be an option for the German.

In the event Liverpool or any other club show firm interest, Van der Kraan suggests they could be able to carry out the operation in the summer.

“The battle is going to be very interesting and that would also mean that it will be very difficult [for Feyenoord] to keep him,” Van der Kraan explained.

With multiple clubs looking at Kökçü, it needs to seen where will he play next season.
