Manchester United’s chances of signing Randal Kolo Muani in the summer may be boosted by Bayern Munich’s hesitancy over a transfer.
BILD cover the player today and explain that the German champions have doubts about the striker and spending big to get him from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The newspaper explains that Kolo Muani is ‘on the list’ of all the top clubs after his displays this year and Manchester United, who are in desperate need of a striker, are one of them.
They could face competition from the likes of Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich, with the latter becoming increasingly interested since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as manager.
However, BILD have learned that there are ‘whispers in the industry’ that Kolo Muani would not be a ‘good fit’ for the German giants.
The belief is that he needed space in behind opposition defences if he is to make the best of his strengths but that is often not the case for Bayern Munich.
They often play against teams employing a low block and thus need a class ‘back to goal’ striker in the mould of Robert Lewandowski. Kolo Muani is not that type of player, while Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is.
The Nigerian would therefore seemingly be a better fit and, thus, Kolo Muani is ‘expected to move abroad’ this summer rather than head to the Allianz Arena.
Whether that is to Manchester United remains to be seen, particularly as it is ‘conceivable’ that the striker will cost €100m or more. With Bayern potentially out of the way, though, if they are interested then that could be one major competitor for his signature out of the way.
