Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kökçü would be better off joining a club like Tottenham over Real Madrid or other big European sides.
That’s according to Aad de Mos, who believes the player has a bright future ahead of him as he continues to shine in the Netherlands.
Kökçü has long been considered one to watch at Feyenoord, having established himself as a first-team player at a young age and continued to develop from that point.
Now 22-years-old he is very much a first-team star and has impressed this season, bagging eight goals and two assists in 27 games in the Eredivisie and three goals and two assists in nine games in the Europa League.
His reputation is continuing to grow as a result, with several big European sides, including Real Madrid, having been linked with a potential move this summer.
De Mos cannot see that happening, though, and instead believe the Turkish international would be better advised joining a club at an intermediate level like Tottenham.
“I don’t believe that (Real Madrid). We do play in the Dutch league against Cambuur,” he said.
“We’ll see when we’ve played against Rome on Thursday. If he stays upright there in that witch-hall with Feyenoord in midfield, then we can start talking about a club playing in the sub-top in Spain or England.
“I think Lazio Rome and Roma, AC Milan and Tottenham, those are teams that could definitely fit. That then has to do with the philosophy and the vision.
“Selecting through and wanting to build with a young squad, then he is a building block I would like to have in there. I think he should look at a club that really suits him.
“He shouldn’t make the mistake of going to Bayern Munich because, of course, there is a hierarchy that determines who will or won’t play, and that also determines whether a coach is good enough.”
